Is your company using a winning strategy?
(14.07.2003)

Avalons clear focussing on the right human implementation approach, rather than keeping a pure technical perspective, is leading to better business results. As we read in this weeks Economist, it is not the technology but the flawless execution and implementation of the technology that makes the difference. Its main finding is that superior performance does not depend on use of this or that trendy management technique. “It doesn't really matter if you implement ERP (enterprise resource planning) software or a CRM (customer relationship management) system; it matters very much, though, that whatever technology you choose to implement you execute it flawlessly.”
Flawless execution, claim the authors, is one of four old-fashioned things that distinguish successful companies over time. The other three are: a company culture based on aiming high; a structure that is flexible and responsive; and a strategy that is clear and focused.
