Avalon trains 500 employees of Bristol-Myers Squibb before launching the HR@Net.
(13.06.2003)

On June 10th, Avalon started an extensive training programme at the Belgium division of Bristol-Myers Squibb in Waterloo.

During the next three months all employees, managers and assistants will receive training as well as share the broader perspective of the HR@net project. Sharing the 'why we do it' vision and making the end-users comfortable with the new system is a critical succesfactor for Avalon. As coordinator of the HR@Net project, Avalon makes sure to cover all aspects of a succesfull roll-out.
  • Providing detailed roll-out planning and coordinating this planning with all stakeholders.
  • Designing a corporate communication plan which goes further than 'announcing a launch', but keeps all end-users connected to process of the complete roll-out, communicating feedback and experiences.
  • Desigining a project training scheme and organising the training sessions
  • Setting up a structured evaluation scheme which reports and evaluates the general roll-out of the project on a regular basis.
  • Structuring all usefull feedback for further extensions on (usability and functionality) to the project that have been brought up by the end-users

The implementation of a successful solution for Bristol-Myers Squibb is far more than installing a prefabricated software-package. It is all about humans. It is not only affecting the HR department but all the employees and managers. It is not just a shift from a paper-based process (holiday sheets,…) to more automation, but it will also start a mental switch on which services to provide while focusing on what is strategically important for the HR department.

The success of any software is only to be measured by the business results generated. Avalon Network looks at the software as a black box, only counting input and business-output. A good system is designed in such way that end-users can easily find or infer the information they need regardless their mental model or preferred problem-solving strategies. In other words they need to feel perfectly at home in the system.

In a successful HR@Net implementation, aiming at massive end-user acceptance, the employees enthusiastically use the HR@Net and find it a great help in providing the services and administration they need to fulfill. The result is they spend less resources (time, budget) while performing their tasks and have time available for more added-value work.

Avalon Network realizes this by involving the end-users and key-people from the start of the project and during the different phases of the project. If you want to find out more about the HR@Net and how Avalon succesfully realises this project, do not hesitate to contact bart@avalonnet.com, our consultants will be happy to share their experiences.
