Recently, Avalon was assigned a new project: Recuperation, management and progressive maintenance of the URBACT site www.urbact.org and web mastering. URBACT, a European Community Initiative Programme, facilitates the networking between cities from all the Member States around three larger objectives:
- Develop transnational exchanges between URBAN I and URBAN II cities, those cities having benefitted from an Urban Pilot Project, and all cities with more than 20.000 inhabitants in the New Member States of the Union.
- Draw lessons from the analysis of their experiences, policies implemented locally and propose innovative approaches to those difficult issues.
- Disseminate towards the actors in all European cities the experiences in those different areas, the lessons learned and the resulting proposals for approach.
URBACT was looking for an optimalisation of its current web platform (2nd version) to be able to move into a higher gear in which more material is being produced and activity of the network is boosted. URBACT has chosen Avalon to improve the current technological platform tools for publication and communication within the specific timing restrictions so it matches the high level of professionalism targeted by URBACT.
